5 Questions to ask your Photographer

If you’ve never had professional photos taken, it can be overwhelming to have your first photo session be on your wedding day! This is why we always encourage you to use the same photographer for your wedding and your engagement photos to break the ice and get to know each other. You should enjoy your time with your photographer on your wedding day, and we encourage you to get to know your Head and Heart Photographer personally before your big day. Our team here at H&H is readily available to answer any and all questions you might have before your session! Here are 5 questions to ask your photographer before your engagement – or any –  session!

Do you have an Instagram?

Follow your photographer on Instagram! You can get a feel for their more unique style, and this might trigger some ideas you might have for your wedding photography.

Do you have any favorite spots to shoot?

Specifically for engagement sessions, our team has shot at some of the most beautiful locations in Santa Barbara. Let your photographer know your vision for your engagement photos, and see if they have a great location to refer you to!

What should we wear?

Styling a shoot is a very important element of making you feel comfortable in your session. For example, you don’t want to wear high heels to a beach photography session. Yes, that might look great for a fashion shoot, but your engagement and wedding photos should highlight your emotions, and we certainly want to make sure that you are comfortable at all times. We will likely recommend a few clothing options, based on the session’s location

What timeline would you recommend?

The golden hour before sunset is what makes those dreamy and soft photos look so amazing. However, in order to get to a location where the golden hour is producing those perfect rays, we might need to travel a bit. When scheduling a shoot, we take into consideration that we might be shooting at a very popular place. We might recommend adding some time into the timeline for parking, walking, and also avoiding any distractions such as other photo shoots taking place, or people just enjoying the view. Ask us what sort of things we might encounter, in order to make your engagement session not rushed, or stressful to get to.

What are your most favorite photos you’ve ever shot?

This is a great question to ask. Photographers love to tell stories. We love to relive our images, and in having that discussion, we might come up with some amazing images we might not have identified without having that discussion. It’s also a great way for us to get to know you and your style! Of course, our most favorite photos are always going to be the images we create for your engagement and wedding, but it’s a great place to start.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you! Our team here at Head and Heart Photography is available for booking in 2018 – 2019. Let us know if you have more questions to ask your photographer – our team would love to help. Or, send us an inquiry today!
